Is MRI safe?
The short version: MRI makes its images without ionizing radiation. Here's the longer version.
Does an MRI use radiation?
No. MRI uses magnetic fields and radio waves — not ionizing radiation like CT or X-ray — making it one of the safest imaging modalities available.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?
No referral is required for AIR’s screening MRI packages. Diagnostic MRI follows a provider-order pathway — call (775) 507-3331 to confirm what your exam requires.
How long does a scan take?
About 30–45 minutes for the Whole Spine MRI, 45–60 minutes for the Neuro-Spine MRI, and 60–90 minutes for the Whole Body MRI. The Complete package runs longer. You’ll get an exact estimate when you book.
What payment methods are accepted?
AIR accepts HSA and FSA funds, cash, checks, credit cards, and debit cards. Confirm your individual HSA/FSA plan rules before paying.

What is Volumetric Quantification?
An AI-powered post-processing technique (via Combinostics) that measures the density of 133 brain regions against a large age-matched database — surfacing subtle patterns a standard report can miss. Included with every Whole Body and Neuro-Spine screening.
Is whole-body screening MRI comprehensive?
No. Whole-body screening MRI does not diagnose every condition and does not replace emergency care, clinical evaluation, recommended screening, or provider-ordered diagnostic imaging. Non-specific findings can also lead to additional testing and expense.
